Merry Christmas all! Love, Hubby, Yours Truly , Curly and Mister!

Thanks to my mom for copies of her pictures from Christmas, since we had forgotten our camera.

Curly samples the Christmas goodies while Daddy helps Mister open a box of plastic rings. Curly's new bike is in the background, picked out by Mama T.

Mommy helps Curly open a gift. She had so much fun this year. She was finally old enough to appreciate more than the wrapping paper.

Mister got a little bike from the Grandparents too. It beeps and talks when you push the buttons. My, what spoiled kids!

December 17, 2007

Curly's first violin concert. She played a Twinkle rhythm and the parents played the full "Twinkle, Twinkle". We had a lot of fun and she did super! I was so proud of her.

December 16, 2007

Curly was an angel in our church's Christmas play.

Our beautiful little angel. She is such a blessing to us!

December 16, 2007

First Haircut! I had a terrible time getting a picture. He's teething and won't hold still, not to mention being so whiny. Time for some tylenol!

He did sit fairly still for the haircut though. I thought I'd be sad to cut his hair but it looked so great when it was done it wasn't hard at all. I love it. He looks all boy, though not so different from how he looked before.

Here's a "before the haircut" picture. Just curly enought to be messy but not to be curly. Just like his Daddy's hair.

November 27, 2007

With an early Christmas gift of outdoor clothes from Mama T and a good snowfall last night, we were ready to play!

Curly LOVED the snow. She made a snow angel as well as attempting to throw snowballs at me, which mostly blew back into her own face. Happily she walked all around the yard making little booted footprints everywhere.

Mister , on the other hand was not crazy about the snow. I couldn't tell if it was the snow or the fact that he wasn't very mobile inside all of his clothes and simply got frustrated, but he didn't want to play. Once I set him on his feet in his little boots and he stood for about 30 seconds by himself before he realized I wasn't holding on and plopped back down on his bottom.

Curly played with a toy dump truck, driving it down the "road" of the front sidewalk. She filled it up with snow and hauled the load all over the front yard.

November 24, 2007

On his 87th birthday, Grandpa Wally reads "Goodnight Moon" to Mister who helped turn pages.

November 23, 2007

Curly helped me set up the Nativity this year. She holds a wiseman safely in her hand while she adjusted the stable, getting it ready for its occupants.

  "This is the Baby Jesus"

Mommy and Curly then decorated the Christmas tree with colored lights and pretty gold balls. Later, she danced around the house singing "It's Christmastime, It's Christmastime!"

November 17, 2007

Happily, I distracted Mister away from Daddy's guitar playing to come see what I was doing with the camera. I love to see him crawl. He certainly won't be doing it much longer.

November 17, 2007

Hubby still practices his guitar almost every day. Here he is running through some of his pieces on my steel string. Some sounded really cool, some not so much. Mister thought all of it was great and he had to crawl right over there and help.

November 16, 2007

Curly in bed at nap-time. She has to have her Thomas-the-Train pillowcase and her new Thomas blanket. She also sleeps with a stuffed Nemo fishy and of course her ever-faithful Nap.

November 16, 2007

Mister at nap-time. He has a little blankie that he is beginning to like very much. His hair is beginning to curl at the back, especially if he is sweaty, like he is in this picture.

November 7, 2007

Just a quiet day at home. Curly is being her usual energetic self, playing with trains and toys and coloring with markers. We still work on letters and reading and we practice her violin every day. Today we needed to go to a meeting in Pullman so we stopped at McDonald's for lunch and to play on the playland.

Mister shows off his graham cracker and toys. He's still not quite walking yet. He seems to be working on expanding his vocabulary. We can make out Mama, Dada, Bottle, Yay and THERE! when he puts something where he wants it.

He's always my snuggle boy too. He loves to cuddle and gives lots of hugs. It's so fun to have such an affectionate baby.

We've been feeding him tiny bites of adult food. Even though he only has four teeth he's very pleased to share in our dinners. He likes noodles the best, but rice seems to be a hit too. I tried some shreds of chicken and he loved it.

October 31, 2007

Tonight we left the Trick-or-Treaters with a dark porch and no candy as we merrily headed off to the Nazarene Church's Fall Harvest Party. They were pleased to welcome a Clown, Pooh, Spiderman and Braveheart.

Mister received a cookie and was happy the rest of the night.

Curly's favorite game was the "Cupcake Walk" where she danced and hippity-hopped to the loud country music coming from the stereo. (See video also!)

  Video of Curly's cakewalk.

Posing next to the "funny guy" for a picture.

October 30, 2007

At bedtime Daddy reads the kids a story while they drink their milk.

October 27, 2007

Happy Birthday Curly and Mister ! We threw a combined birthday party for both kids at our house in the afternoon. The theme, of course, was Thomas the Tank engine. Here you can see my efforts at a Thomas birthday cake. Curly loved it, especially the face.

Curly's birthday is November 12 and she'll be three years old! Mister had his birthday on October 21 and turned the big one!

Mister wasn't quite sure what all the excitement was about but he loved every minute of it any way.

Here's the spread we put out for our guests. We had adults and kids both at the party so we had some Oreos and candy for the kids then some nice crackers and cheese for the adults. We also served dinner in the form of cheeseburgers.

After the presents were opened, everyone had to try them out. Yep, they passed inspection and were said to be fun. Mister got a workbench of tools as well as a puzzle and a book. Curly got lots of Thomas gear and a couple of puzzles. They both got cute snuggy jammies from Mama T. GG gave Curly a darling little doll in a crocheted bed and Mister got a talking truck. Quite a haul, I'd say.

Mama T and Papa S threw a birthday party for Hubby and Mister down in Lewiston.

Curly helped Mister with his presents, which were many!

October 18, 2007

Just a quiet evening at home. Hubby and I baked cinnamon rolls and played with the kids. Hubby won a couple of golf balls at a seminar during the day so he gave them to Mister , who loved them. He crawled around with them in his hands babbling about them. Curly likes to make a bed for her dollies. She is a very good little mommy.

October 12, 2007

Mister thought my Reader's Digest looked absolutely fascinating. He especially liked the pictures of people's faces.

October 10, 2007

In a few weeks, Mister will be one year old! He stands by himself for a few seconds then collapses into a ball. One of these days he'll take off walking but so far he hasn't felt steady enough. He still crawls like a maniac and loves to get into everything! His favorite play to play in the house is the canned food cupboard where he gets out all the food and stacks the cans.

October 10, 2007

We bought Curly a Pooh costume to wear for Halloween so she had to try it on right away. This was at G'ma Doris's house. Curly will be three in a month. Her talking is almost entirely accurate now. Once in a while she'll still throw in a cute pronounciation like "bai-nana" and she calls our home the "Twai-wer home house".

Mister explores G'ma Doris's house too. He impressed both of us with his ability to put lids back on bins and to stack toys. Grandma made a drum for him out of a big decorative tin and he had a fine, noisy time with that.

October 6, 2007

Daddy and Mister take a snuggle with a bottle just before we left for the Farmer's Market. Mommy had a sore toenail, so she went to the doctor then met everyone else downtown.

October 4, 2007

A tiny violin arrived at our house today for a tiny violinist to use!

October 3, 2007

Curly made a tent out of a big cardboard box. She also dug out her pumpkin shirt from last year. For some reason, she absolutely loves "happy face pumpkins". She even talked us into buying a plastic pumpkin at the store last night. Now she carries it around with all of her favorite toys in it.

October 3, 2007

Little Mister -man is 11 months old now. I can hardly believe how the time has flown. This week he has another cold. He seems to be sick a lot this fall, which is a bummer. He's still a happy little guy though. He pulls himself up and walks along whatever furniture or wall he can find.

His favorite game right now is "chase". He crawls as fast as he can down the hall, baiting us to chase him. When we catch him and tickle him, his happy giggle fills the room. He plays this with the kids at the tree-slide too.

October 1, 2007

Curly was practicing her violin before she even got dressed this morning! She loves violin!

September 22, 2007

On a beautiful Saturday morning we visited the Farmer's Market in downtown Moscow. Mister and I are sitting on a bench watching Curly play on the playground area.

Curly goes down the slide at the Farmer's Market.

Although she wasn't supposed to climb up the slide, she persisted in doing so, which led to a time-out on the bench. This look says it all, doesn't it?

I watch Mister play with the big kids at the playground. I am so excited to be wearing a new outfit in a smaller size. I've been working very hard to shed the baby weight all summer and I feel like I am finally seeing some progress although I still have a ways to go.

Yes, that's our goofball! She recovered speedily from the time-out and got right back to playing!

All this excitement wore Mister out! He fell asleep in the stroller and did not wake up until we got home at nap time. Perfect timing.....or not!

September 13, 2007

Daddy and Mister share some running around time at the "I" Tower hill. We were killing time one evening before an appointment so we drove around town taking fun pictures and letting the kids play so they would be tired enough to go to bed.

It got dark while we were at the "I" Tower. Curly spent her time running all around the hill chasing Daddy and tossing pieces of grass into the air. I'm not sure what purpose this activity served but it kept her well entertained.

September 13, 2007

Daddy and Curly dip a ginger cookie into yummy coffee foam at the Cafe Silos. Hubby intends to write a review for his blog so we went there to take pictures and chat with the proprieter, who is a lovely woman. She gave us extra cookies for the kids and tried to load us up with fresh tomatoes. Unfortunately neither Hubby nor I actually like to eat tomatoes. I think she was a little disgusted with us for that!

Labor Day Weekend 2007

We went up to the lake cabin for a spontaneous overnight. This is the view off the deck at Coeur d'Alene Lake. If you look closely, Hubby, Curly and Piper were down on the end of the right-hand dock.

Playing on the end of the dock.

I may be biased, but I think Curly is a beautiful little girl!

Mister goes exploring on the deck. He was headed for the bowl of dog food.

Mister's 10 1/2 months old now. He likes to babble and his favorite word is "dada". He coos and drools primarily. He still doesn't usually sleep through the night. I think he's trying to break my sister's record for baby who sleeps the least.

As for his personality, he seems pretty happy and content as long as his tummy is full. Being hungry is the only thing that makes him fussy. He seems to be quite mechanically minded and always interested in how things work. My prediction is that he will want to learn to work on cars with Papa S. He often will take two toys that go together and attempt to assemble them.

August 2007

As Curly said when she saw this:

"There's Curly playing toys in the living room and there's Curly's Thomas Pillow."

Grandpa Bill and Grandma Nancy hold the kids on the farm in Oregon.

Curly loved holding the kitties at the farm.

She got to feed the chickens.

August 2007

Making a face through the baby gate. Mister is 10 months old. He can crawl and pull himself up on the furniture. He'd love to be walking but it will be a while as he is still pretty unsteady.

August 2007

Curly in bed, ready to go to sleep.

Bathtub time again. Daddy loves to give the kiddos their bath each night.

Why won't he sleep in his bed?!?!?!

  Ducky face!

August 2007

Daddy reads the Potty book. It won't be long till Curly is all potty trained!

July 2007

Can't get much cuter than that!

I'm constantly amazed at how intelligent Curly is. She now recognizes all of the capital letters. She knows her numbers and can sort of count to 20. more importantly she knows that numbers represent quantities and will count objects accurately up to five.

I looked up a list of toddler milestones on the internet and she passes all of the three-year-old ones and many of the four-year-old ones as well. She can put on her own shirt and shoes as well as brush her teeth and eat with utensils. She's leaving the "terrible twos" behind (thank goodness) and she is a sweet, pleasant little girl. She adores her little brother and almost always shares toys with him and makes sure he is happy. I'm so proud of her.

Playing at East City Park, one of our favorite places.

  What a goofball!

She calls the garment her "Night-DOWN".

  Hey, whassup?

  Sweet little napper.

This is our town. There's the church, home, the green tractor, the water tower, the Wal-Mart store and the gas station.

Both kids got new Thomas the Train shoes. Curly in particular thought hers were really cool because they twinkled.

May 2007

Mister with his pickle. He's seven months old. Although he doesn't crawl yet, he scoots on his tummy. A friend said he looked like he was "swimming". He's very quiet and seldom babbles. The only words he uses are "hi' and "mama".

  Two cuties!

  This bears close examination...

At the Cabin, Curly waits for her dinner.

May 2007

This was in the hotel in Portland. Daddy read the usual bedtime story to the kids before they go to sleep.

There is a picture of me when I was this age hanging in the dining room at my parents' house. I was sitting looking in the mirror of a closet like this, so when I saw the mirrored doors in the hotel in Portland, I had to snap a picture.

  ZZZZZZZZ.....

Sitting on the blanket ouside was so much fun!

Curly's hair is finally long enough to braid. She doesn't like to sit still long enough to let me do it though.

  He's a little, round ball.

  Ready for a walk.

April 2007

A favorite activity is making Mister laugh. His little giggle is so cute it makes the whole family laugh.

So far the best place for Mister to sleep is in his carseat set on the bouncy frame. He loves it there.

Easter 2007

GG sent the kids some great big stuffed bunnies. Mister thought his tasted good.

Curly pulls hers out of the bag...

  "Can I open Mister's too?"

March 20, 2007

My friend Kris brought her kids over to play and for fun we got matching shirts at Wal-Mart.

March 20, 2007

Curly playing toys in her play room. She likes to play with dinosaurs, cooking and books.

Mister likes the toys on the tray of his walker.

March 14, 2007

This is Curly's popcorn bowl. She holds it while the popcorn is popping in the microwave.

March 12, 2007

Curly is 28 months. Her favorite movie is Finding Nemo. She loves to go to the park and can slide down the slide and land on her feet.

March 12, 2007

Mister is 4 1/2 months old. He has rolled over once from tummy to back but hasn't repeated the feat. He mostly just likes to be held. I was worried for a while about his lack of eye contact but he has resolved that and will now look right at people or follow them across the room.

In some lights, Mister 's hair really looks red. I am pretty sure his eyes will be blue like his daddy's.

February 21, 2007

First Rice Cereal today! Mister thought it tasted a bit strange, but he went with it. He has been smiling all the time lately and talking to us. I am pretty sure he says "Hi" on purpose now. He still doesn't really try to roll over, but he gets fussy so soon after I lay him down that he doesn't get a chance. I hope he'll want to play and wiggle more pretty soon.

"Hi Daddy!"

Mister had his checkup and shots today. He weighs 17 lbs. 10 oz. which is the 95th percentile! He's a roly-poly for sure. :)

February 19, 2007

Curly's favorite part of the Motel 6 was the ice bucket. She loved our Seattle trip. She knew she was up in the sky on the airplane and she liked seeing all the new sights.

Her milestones keep coming! She is about the level of a 3 1/2 year old with her speech and height and knowledge of colors. She also can draw a circle and knows about half of her letters by sight. She'll count to three consistently and knows that numbers refer to objects. She'll tell me she has "two happy hearts" if she does have two, but "lots of happy hearts" if there are three or more.

She is surprisingly creative in her play as well. Today I looked in the playroom and she had made herself a bed on the top of her toy box. She likes to cook meals in her play kitchen then bring them out for me to eat.

February 18, 2007

Mister tried out the exersaucer at our friends' house in Seattle. He thought it was great fun. At home we have a baby walker with toys on the tray. He likes that too. He is getting pretty good at reaching out and touching stuff with his hands.

All three babies laying on the airbed at Taylor's house. Ethan Taylor is one month older than Mister .

At the Point Defiance Zoo, Curly rode the bronze statue of the seal.

  Elephants at the zoo.

Daddy and Curly watch the elephants.

January 24, 2007

Curly has been playing with her friend Kyrie a lot while Hubby and I help Mark and Kris get settled. They have a great time playing horsies, coloring and playing dress-up.

The main milestone I have seen recently is muliple-word sentences. The other day she said to me, "Nap is dirty. Got sketti sauce on it. Mommy put it in-er wash-nachine an' make it all clean."

January 2007

Mister turned three months on Sunday. He has been smiling a LOT and he slept through the night this weekend for the first time! Woo Hoo! He now eats about 10:30 or 11:00 and will sleep till almost 7:00 sometimes!

He loves to play with his sister. She shows him toys or puts his pluggy in his mouth for me.

  Flirting with Mommy.

Curly is 25 1/2 months old. She's over 3' tall and weighs about 28 pounds. I think the word to use right now is TALKATIVE!!! She loves to talk and will usually "parrot" everything we say. Most items in her world have cute little two-word descriptions. For instance, a coffee cup is a "coppee-shop". A bowl is a "bowl-hat" and Mister is "Beebee Mister ".

She's learning to throw a ball, draw happy faces and likes to watch The Lion King. Right now her favorite snack is popcorn and she likes to eat it in the morning right after breakfast! She also likes spaghetti and green beans a lot.

I have to laugh at the cute phrases she says. When we went up to the traielr to work on it, she said "It's stinky". And whenever anything catches her fancy, she says "Oh, wow!". Anything from Christmas is called a "stocking". Her blanket, pictured here, is called "Nap" and at dinner, it's "Nap on-backa chair." She hangs it on the back of her chair to have it close.

She loves her little brother. She's a little helper, running to get a burp rag for me. She likes to hold his bottle and if he's crying, she'll say "Go sweep, Beebee Mister ". She wants to be a momm's helper in everything, from loading the dishes in the dishwasher to brushing her hair and teeth. She can almost put a shirt on by herself too.

January 7, 2007

Mister is 11 weeks old. He'll smile at us and wave his fists around. He's sleeping about 4-5 hours at night, which we hope will improve soon!
